Picnic in the Park, 12-5pm, Behind Knaresborough House

DJ Trev

Picnic in the Park is a FREE event, bring the whole family and friends

An afternoon of music and picnicking in the grounds of Knaresborough House. hosted by DJ Trev.
Trev says:
“FEVA Picnic in the Park is one of my favourite days of the year – whatever the weather the crowds turn up with sarnies, scotch eggs and energy. The bands get people dancing whilst I love playing all kinds of tunes inbetween (even if that is “sit down time”) Because of the diverse range of people who come and support this, so much different music goes down well, so it’s great to be a part of. FEVA itself is such a great week and a half that everyone from anywhere remotely near should be able to find something on the programme for them, and the way that Knaresborough get’s behind it is lovely. I really believe that FEVA is something that Yorkshire can be proud of; it brings people together, which is more important than ever!”

Here are this year’s bands and timings

12 Noon Serious Rain

Serious Rain formed from the ageing fragments of local bands Idlefish, Some Caught Napping and Big Idea. Held to gather with gaffer tape (the gigging musicians cure-all) and named after the first song they worked on 18 months ago  ….. which was actually written 30 years ago but thats another story.. And yes, we did that thing where you add  up the bands collective years of experience; it came to 174 but we are not about to let that slip out!
The plan for world domination this time is to blend acoustic and electronic instruments, rock and folk influences in attempts to capture something unique but catchy and positive that will drive us down the road to mega stardom.
Project commenced September 2017, writing, recording and arranging original songs and soundtrack at If Only Studios L.A. with two songs later mastered at Abbey Road Studios. Our bass player Ian has recently worked with Marlon Hodelin (who works as a part of Quincy Jones’ writing team and whose other credits include Adele and Mark Morrison) to sprinkle magic dust over own material in the mastering suite.
Band Line up is: Simon Cooper Drums/percussion backing vocals. Ian Burwell, bass guitar backing vocals. Wavey davey, vocals, electronic guitar vocals and backing vocals.
Robin van Zelst, acoustic guitar vocals. Open your ears but don’t look too closely!
So busy writing and recording we haven’t at time of going to press had the time to start work on a website so just enjoy what you hear and see on the day and look out for us later on the internettie.

3:15pm The Omega Era

The Omega Era. We are a three piece from Yorkshire, our genre is Rock / Alt Rock and we have been going for 4 years! We have Jonny on Bass,  Ryan on Guitar and Jim on the drums, our influences include the Foo  Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Queen to name a few! We have written  biographies before and as much as we want to tell you that listening to  our music will transport you to a distant plane of consciousness and make you realise what the meaning of life is and that  Johnny’s bass sound is akin to the thunderous sound of the horsemen’s  hooves AND that Ryan’s guitar splits the very fabric of reality open like a musical axe OR that Jim’s drums will open a portal  to the depths of a new universe………………we’re not going to,  mainly because it probably won’t. However, we can say if you come to a gig or buy / stream our music you will like it and most  probably play it a few times to your mates!! That’s all we want, we want  you to have fun while we play and have fun listening to our music!!!

4:20 to 5pm Finish – Chequered Past

Chequered Past are an energetic ska, mod and new wave band based in the Harrogate area. They make a welcome return to FEVA’s Picnic in the Park having made their debut in 2018. Formed just two years ago the band have played in excess of 100 gigs in pubs, clubs and National Scooter Rallies from Teeside to Leicestershire, Lancashire to Lincolnshire and everywhere in-between. The band have an impressive repertoire of songs including the classics by Bad Manners, Madness, The Specials, The Lambrettas, The Jam, The Cure and The Stranglers to name a few. They also like to pogo a bit so can play songs by the Dead Kennedys, The Clash and the Sex Pistols if bribed with food and/or alcoholic beverages. Matt plays guitar, Jamie plays bass, Andy plays drums, Rich plays keys, and Alan sings and occasionally plays the tambourine badly.
