Knaresborough’s annual Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts (feva) promises once again to deliver a scintillating and unique programme of activities across the charming market town. The 2009 programme incorporates music, street entertainment, spoken word events & activities along with mouth-watering culinary delights at various key venues. Fantastic feva truly is a festival for all ages with both daytime and evening entertainment to suit all tastes. The Festival is also credit-crunch friendly with several of the attractions being completely free of charge.

feva enters its 9th year this year and there are a number of familiar events featured on the 2009 programme including the Knaresborough Lions Beer Festival, a Punch & Judy show, and Picnic in the Park at Knaresborough House. New to feva ’09 is a ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition, ‘Street Dance for Teens’ sessions and an Abba tribute show, amongst other things!

Each year feva is organised by a passionate and dedicated team of volunteers. Tony Cerexhe was one of the founding members of the festival committee and is today committee Chair and Director of Music for feva. Tony comments “It’s fantastic to be a part of feva once again as we enter our 9th year. When we delivered the very first feva we always felt that it could have only been a one-off. Instead this is now an incredibly popular annual event that gains momentum every year. There’s now a real buzz around feva and local people are getting involved on an ever-increasing basis. 2009 will be no exception.”
The feva Visual Arts Trail is a pivotal part of the Festival and this year provides a rare opportunity to experience some of the finest creative work from both high profile names as well as less well-known local artists. The arts trail presents exhibitions at a selection of venues featuring paintings, sculptures, photography, various craftwork and more. This is wonderful opportunity to experience a high volume of beautiful and diverse visual arts pieces concentrated within the 10-day Festival period and all within picturesque Knaresborough.

Tony adds “Each year we try to retain certain programme elements, whilst enhancing the line-up by adding new names and activities to refresh the feva appeal. This year we are confident that we have one of our best-ever programmes and we are all geared up to deliver yet another successful Festival”.

Feva will run from 14th to 23rd August 2009. A full printed Festival Programme is available from the Knaresborough Tourist Office, plus various other outlets across the town. You can also visit www.feva.info where a downloadable copy of the Programme is also available.
